Scottish Fuel Fund

4 May 2023

HACT were successful in receiving Scottish Gov Fuel Support Funding to disseminate to Scottish housing associations. Funds secured by HACT and Melville are now available for Scottish housing associations to access, providing vouchers to support residents with rising fuel costs.

Vouchers can be emailed to the Housing Association to send on, however unfortunately we are unable to make payments directly to residents.

Any housing providers who have received funds directly from SFHA’s Fuel Support Fund to distribute fuel or cash vouchers to their residents are not eligible to draw funds from the HACT/Melville pot.

If you are unsure whether this applies to your organisation, you can contact the Energy Hardship team at energy.hardship@hact.org.uk

The vouchers cover gas and electric, prepayment or smart meters.  These include:

  1. Energy vouchers

The PayPointEnergy Voucher service offers a facility to top up energy meters (gas and electric) via the use of energy cards or keys, operated across the entire PayPointnetwork, enabling you to make awards in the form of a voucher issued to beneficiaries by email.

  1. Cash vouchers

The PayPointEnergy SMS service offers a facility to top up energy meters (gas and electric) via the use of energy cards or keys, allowing you to make awards in the form of a text message voucher.

  1. Cashout

The Paypoint cashout option is for residents who don’t have a pre-payment meter. They will be provided with a single-use code via text message to show at their nearest PayPoint retailer for cash.
