Data and performance insights

Evidenced based decision making has never been more important than it is today. We provide a range of data and performance benchmarking services for our members.  We work in collaboration with our members to ensure that the services that we are offering continue to evolve to meet your needs.

We provide all Charter and Network Indicator data for you. You have full access to data across the sector and within your peer group, data that is only available to you as an SHN Member. You can cut and scrutinise data in a myriad of ways to suit your needs.

Annual and Quarterly Network Data Indicators

In addition to the Charter data, we also provide additional benchmarking services that are exclusive to our members. We collect data from our participating members on a quarterly and annual basis, providing you with bespoke insight to support your performance management and decision making. Last year we saw a significant increase in the number of landlords who completed Annual Network Indicators and we want to continue to build on these improvements.

NETWORK INDICATORS

Annual Network Indicators give you extra context, complementing Charter data. We’ve added new indicators and updated others indicators based on your feedback. The main changes are as follows:

New indicators (N1.3–N1.5 – Housing stock):

Collect total lettable self‑contained stock by apartment size, total non‑self‑contained bed spaces, and numbers of new builds, acquisitions and disposals.

Revised indicator (N40 – Average rent levels):

Will record average rents per apartment size for both 2025/26 and 2026/27.

We will now also ask for average weekly rent as calculated by  the SHR Charter definitions (including service charges).

Because some members also want rents excluding service charges, both figures are now included, and landlords can provide one or both.

Results will appear in a standalone dashboard to support next year’s rent‑setting.

Indicator N19 (Complaints):

Topical categories reduced from nine to five.

Stages and outcomes remain aligned with SPSO guidance.

A new question captures the number of complaints involving data protection issues.

Please send your completed Network Indicators to data@scotlandshousingnetwork.org by Friday, 5th June 2026. We’ll make the data available within a short period.

Quarterly data submisison

Quarterly data allows members to track their Charter performance relative to others in the sector throughout the year. To participate in the Quarterly data collection, simply download the most up-to-date version of the Quarterly data collection here. Quarterly returns are due on the last working day of the month, the month after the quarter ends. Submissions should again be sent to data@scotlandshousingnetwork.org or directly to boris.mingay@scotlandshousingnetwork.org.
