Average Scottish House price passes £200k

The latest provisional statistics from the UK HPI show that the average price of a property in Scotland in August 2024 was £200,000, an increase of 5.4% when compared to August 2023. But the variation in house
prices across Scotland could hardly be starker. In August 2024, the highest-priced area to purchase a property was City of Edinburgh, where the average price was £339,000. In contrast, the lowest-priced area to purchase a property was East Ayrshire, where the average price was £131,000.

In contrast to rising prices the volume of sales across Scotland appears to have fallen by just under 9.5% though this is a provisional figure. Provisional or not there, is a wealth of interesting and, to some degree, concerning data in this report including figures at local authority level.
